With her beautiful angelic features, Pauleen Luna radiates good vibes and a positive glow. But did you know that this young lady has a dark side? Indeed, looks can be deceiving. To know why, read on. Text by Loretta G. Ramirez. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio.

At nineteen, Pauleen Luna has a flourishing career in acting and hosting. Being a regular host of the longest-running noontime show, Eat Bulaga, Pauleen has established her presence on national television. Adding another feather to her cap, this young artist can now be seen in the romantic-comedy Ako si Kim Samsoon.

Sour Cherry

Portraying the character of Cherry, Pauleen is enjoying her role in GMA’s newest primetime telebabad offering.

stars“I play the role of Cherry, as in nagma-maasim na Cherry. I am the present fiancĂ© of the ex-fiancĂ© of Kim na si Wendell, which is Harvey,” explains Pauleen about her role. She says that her character has a mean streak and a dark side despite her beautiful appearance.

“Ang sama ni Cherry talaga! Ako 'yung true-blue na pampasira ng buhay ni Kim. I’ll really call Kim ‘baboy’ and all. Maybe that’s also one reason why I strived to lose weight, baka kasi ibalik sa akin, ‘Anong tinging mo sa sarili mo? Payat? (laughs)” And indeed, Pauleen has lost a lot of pounds and is now all trim and sexy.

Playing a kontrabida

Pauleen shares that she is happy that the role of Cherry was given to her, and that she is not worried at all on being tagged as a bad girl.

“Natutuwa ako, kasi parang I get to experiment more on myself and I am sure na hindi naman ako mata-tag [as a kontrabida], because they still see me in Eat Bulagawhere I’m still the bubbly girl,” clarifies Pauleen. She says that she is excited about this role and is doing everything to give justice to the character of Cherry.

stars“Actually palagi kong pinapanood 'yung mga movies ni Cherie Gil. Nakakakuha ako ng mga tips kasi ang galing nya talaga!” She further adds that she is practicing what she has learned and has these tips to give to those who would like to play an antagonist’s role.

“When you are a kontrabida, you don’t have to shout all the time. Parang may sarcastic mode ka. Hindi dapat angat na angat 'yung kilay,” shares the young actress. She wanted to give some more tips but she has to go and prepare for her next scene. But she did not forget to leave this message to the loyal followers ofAko si Kim Samsoon:

“For the fans of the Koreanovela Kim Samsoon, I am sure you’re going to love our local version and I am sure na masu-surprise kayo kay Ate Regine. She is very good in this project and the show is built with a very good cast and directors, so I am 101% sure na you are going to enjoy [it]!”
