Pauleen... Bulaga!

For more than 25 years, Eat Bulaga has been reigning in the noontime slot as the legends Tito and Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon habitually come up with fresh gimmicks to make our lunch time more enjoyable. As years pass, the Bulaga family welcomes new members to be part of the well-loved gang.

One of its latest additions was the young Pauleen Luna, who became part of the cheery noontime family just two years back. Pretty and attention-catching she is, but just how did it feel for a neophyte to join the most popular afternoon show in Philippine television? Text by Jessa Ericka C. Bien Photos by Xylen geecel D. stars“Noong una medyo kinakabahan ako” Pauleen admits to iGMA. But surviving the first day at the job proved to be an easy task for her as “the first person to welcome me was Tito Joey. (He) was very father-like to me” she recalls. “First thing that he did when I came (was to) hug me, (and) sabi niya, ‘welcome’. Never ko naramdaman na siya si Joey de Leon” she narrates.

After getting over the jitters and eventually adapting to her new environment, Pauleen claims, “hindi ka talaga mai-intimidate.”

Almost 19 years old, Pauleen is the youngest member of Eat Bulaga and her co-hosts can’t help but treat her as their baby. The young actress, however, makes sure she delivers at par with them. As a person who likes performing in general, Pauleen says she really enjoys hosting for the noontime show.

“(In) hosting, you could put a bit of yourself into it, actually 50 percent of yourself” she comments. She then shares that the Pauleen people see on TV everyday is very much like the real her off screen.

“What you see is what you get” she says. “I’m very transparent. Kung ano ako, ako na 'yun eh. Hindi ako mapag-pretend eh.”

Bonded

starsEat Bulaga continues to dominate the small screen every noon, and Pauleen believes this is because of their camaraderie. “Siguro twice or thrice a year, we go out of the country (to bond). Tapos kami naman (noong) mga close ko, like sina Julia (Clarete) (at) Ruby (Rodriguez), we take girls’ night out” she adds.

Happiness for each other’s success is also a very important factor. “Wala kaming insecurity” she claims. “We’re happy for each other … because we believe that everyone has (his) own traits that contributes to the show. Iba-iba kaming lahat, and when you put it all together, doon nagiging special” she concludes.

Catch Pauleen and the rest of the Eat Bulaga family Mondays to Saturdays in GMA. Keep posted for updates on this pretty star!
